Description
Mizuna streaks is a Japanese specialty mustard green where dark green and burgundy melt together into lacey leaves that accessorize your garden and your plate. The frilly texture of the leaves creates a pleasant sensation in your mouth, and the soft leaf tips are like a brush to hold your favorite dressing. Mizuna streaks is the type of green you might find in a fancy restaurant. These spicy leaves are perfect for salads, as a garnish and as a burger topping. Try pairing it with a creamy balsamic dressing. The seeds can be used as a spice just like brown mustard. And best of all, Mizuna streaks is one of the easiest edible plants to grow. These plants grow quickly without any special gardening skills and can be kept on hand for use as you need it, especially when the weather is cool or temperate. Mizuna plants can start to bolt as the weather really heats up, but we have been growing them successfully in Florida throughout the year, including throughout the winter. If allowed to seed, these mustard greens will reseed themselves, and you may find yourself with some effortless food, not to mention, plenty to use in your kitchen. This can be great thing if you are into permaculture or getting food with little effort but you may want to keep the seed from maturing if you don’t want a bunch of volunteers popping up. It’s very easy, and there’s ample opportinity to cut the tops ahead of time or pull the plants out before they produce and drop seed. Mizuna streaks enjoys full sun but will tolerate partial shade. They are great in containers or direct sowed in the ground, making it an extremely versatile gardening optionukgiggigijhi7t8iiiii. You can even grow them indoors or in an Aerogarden. If you are growing salad greens, setting up a permaculture garden, or you want a new food crop that is easy to grow for any skill level, give Mizuna Streaks a try this season.
Growing Information: Seeds should be sown directly outdoors once the weather has warmed. Cover with a very thin dusting of soil (about 1/16″). A rich, alluvial soil is recommended.
