Fo Ti is a traditional Chinese herb of mythical proportions. It was believed to Chinese herbalist Li Ching-Yuen used Fo Ti on a daily basis. If history is even remotely accurate, Li Ching-Yuen is by far the longest-living human in history. He had a legendary sexual appetite, fathering more than 200 children in his lifespan. Having died in 1933, his birth date is speculated to have been in either 1677 or 1736 (as he himself claimed). The earlier date is actually argued by a Chinese professor named Wu Chung Chieh. Either way, this would make Li Ching-Yuen 197 years old at the very least. Since there were no records that far back, the facts are somewhat hazy. But nonetheless, Li Ching-Yuen has been a symbol of longevity and virility. With Fo Ti being one of the herbs he consumed regularly throughout his incredible life, it too has come to represent these things.
Fo Ti is an adaptogen herb whose benefits are supported by modern research. Fo ti has a vast resume of benefits according to herbal medicine, including detoxification of the blood, anti-inflammatory properties, anti-tumor properties, immune support, energy balance, sedative properties, anti-aging, sexual stamina in both genders and of course hair health.. Another of Fo ti’ legendary benefits comes from its purported ability to reverse grey hair. Modern reports support this claim. Reviews of Fo Ti suggest not only that it can help reverse the graying process, but it can also promote hair and fingernail growth.
